The Purpose Of Attaining Spiritual Powers Some people out there promote yoga as some kind of health treatment/training exercise. Although it can, in fact, make you healthy, you’re only wasting time and money on these people if that’s the only thing they teach you about yoga. In order for you to fully grasp what this whole spiritual power enterprise is all about, you must first place yourself from the standpoint of the student of yoga. Other than that, you might get confused with some of the terms used in Hindu philosophy, so it’s better that you become acquainted with them first. With that said, kindly take the time to carefully study the articles below: Raja Yoga – This is the system derived from Patanjali’s sutras which allows mind-body integration in preparation for the attainment of the spiritual powers listed at the end of this post. Samyama Meditation - Raja yoga is composed of eight limbs (sets of techniques). The last three limbs (Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi) form Samyama and are practiced simultaneously. The first five limbs (Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, and Pratyahara) serve as preparatory exercises for Samyama. Siddhis may arise while practicing the first five limbs, but Patanjali specifically points to Samyama as the means to gain full control of them. 7 Major Chakras – Each siddhi (spiritual power) requires meditation on one or several subtle energy centers called chakras. Some of the sutras do not exactly give reference to them that’s why I had to find the corresponding chakra for each siddhi. How Spiritual Powers Are Developed How Spiritual Powers Are Developed The siddhis are the result of birth, drugs, mantras, austerities, or Samadhi. Our attention should be on Samadhi, but let me try to explain all of them briefly. Birth – Reincarnation is a major concept in Eastern philosophy. The Hindus believe that although we are born in this world with a tabula rasa (blank slate) we carry in us a set of potentialities called Samskaras (the seeds of our actions in previous lives). These tendencies, they say, remain inactive and only manifest when the right conditions are present. Some people may be born with certain talents, abilities, or even spiritual powers, but unless the conditions are favorable to their development, these gifts cannot be ripened to their fullest expression. Additionally, I.K. Taimni mentioned in his commentary of the sutras that some people – whose moral and intellectual development are not very highly advanced – are sometimes born with certain spurious occult powers. The reason could be that they experimented with Yogic practices in their previous lives.

Dhyan Sadhna ffe5a-spiritual2bpower2b04 DIFFERENT TERMS OF MEDITATION. 1. YOGA is the restraining of the modification of the thinking principle. 2. SAMADHI (Meditation) is the intentness on a single point; or that state of knowledge in which the mind, having avoided the obstacles, is well fixed on, or confined to, one object only. It is a continual concentration of thought, by means of which all external objects, and even one’s own individuality, are forgotten, and the mind fixed completely and immovably on the One Being. 3. SAMPRAJNATA-SAMADHI (Meditation with distinct recognition) is that form of meditation which arises from the attendance of argumentation (vitarka), deliberation (vichara), beatitude (ananda), and egotism (asmita). 4. ASAMPRAJNATA-SAMADHI (Meditation without distinct recognition) is independent of any fresh antecedent, being in the shape of the self-reproduction of thought, after the departure of all objects. 5. ABHYASA (Practice) is the repeated effort that the internal organ—Chitta—shall remain in its unmodified state, and in a firm position observed out of regard for the end in view, and perseveringly adhered to for a long time unintermittingly. 6. VAIRAGYA (Indifference) is the consciousness of having overcome one’s desires; this consciousness is of one who neither thirsts after the objects that are seen on earth no those that are heard of in the Scriptures. 7. VRITTI (Modification of the internal organ) is the modification produced from either of the following five causes:— a.Pramana (Evidence or right notion) that which arises from perception, inference and testimony. b.Viparyaya (Misconception) is incorrect notion, not staying in the proper form of that in respect whereof the misconception is entertained. c.Vikalpa (Doubt);—a notion devoid of a thing in reality corresponding thereto, following upon knowledge produced by words. d.Nidra (Sleep) depends on the conception of nothing. e.Smriti (Memory) is the not letting go of an object of which the mind has been aware. 8.ISWARA (Lord) is a particular Spirit (Purusha) untouched by troubles, works, fruits, or deserts, in whom the germ of the omniscient becomes infinite, who is the preceptor even of the first, for he is not limited by time, and whose name is Glory. 9. DRASHTA (Seer, soul) is vision simply, though pure, looking directly, it is spectator merely through proximity. It is mere thought. It alone is the experiencer. 10. AVIDYA (Ignorance) is the notion that the uneternal, the impure evil and what is not-soul, are severally eternal, pure, joy and soul. 11. ASMITA (Egotism) is the identifying of the power that sees with the power of seeing. 12. RAGA (Desire) is that which dwells on pleasure; it is longing for the means of enjoyment. 13. DWESHA (Aversion) is that which dwells on pain. 14. ABHINIVESA (Tenacity of life) is the attachment which every one feels naturally to the body through dread of death. 15. YAMA (Forbearance) consists of not killing, veracity, not stealing, continence, and not coveting. 16. NIYAMA (Religious observances) are purification, contentment, austerity, inaudible mutterings, and persevering devotion to the Lord (ISWARA). 17. ASANA (Posture) is the position which one sets himself to. It must be steady and pleasant. 18. PRANAYAMA (Regulation of the breath) is the cutting short of the motion of inspiration and expiration. 19. PRATYAHARA (Restraint) is the accomodation of the senses to the nature of the mind, in the absence of the concernment with each one’s own object. It is the complete subjugation of the senses. 20. DHARANA (Attention) is the fixing of the internal organ (Chitta) to a place. 21. DHYANA (Contemplation) is the course of uniform (fixed only on one object) modification of knowledge at that place where the internal organ is fixed in Dharana. 22. SAMADHI (Modification) [see Def. 2] is the same contemplation or Dhyana when it arises only about a material substance or object of sense, and therefore it is then like non-existence of itself and like ignorance. 23. SANYAMA is the three, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi operating on only one object; or the technical name for the above three taken together is Sanyama. 24. ANTARANGA (Interior) is the name applied in Samprajnata Samadhi to the three Yogangas: Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi. 25. BAHIRANGA (Exterior) is the name applied in Samprajnata Samadhi to the five Yogangas: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama and Pratyahara. 26. DHARMA is that which follows upon, or has the properties in, the shape of Santa (tranquil), Udita (risen), and Avyapradesya (incapable of denomination). In other words, Dharma means substance in which the properties adhere. 27. SIDDHIS are the superhuman or psychic faculties developed from the practice of the Yoga Tonificacion Garuda Prabhu Kush Sachdeva (Dhruv Dass)

DIVINE THOUGHTS. Prem means love, rupesh means god of the form – the full name will mean god of the form of love, god of love. And once you recognise something in you, it starts happening; that is the miracle. If you think of yourself as being depressed, you remain depressed. If you think of yourself as being unhappy, you remain unhappy. It is only a turning in your thought: you can become happy just by deciding to be happy. People think that they are unhappy because there is some cause for them to be unhappy. The reality is just the opposite: they have decided to be unhappy, hence the cause exists. It is not the cause that makes them unhappy: because they have decided to be unhappy the cause comes into existence, and they are looking at things just in the reverse order. Once you decide, immediately that thing starts happening, because the inner power of man is infinite. Howsoever we seem on the surface, we are not limited. The deepest source of your being is unlimited, infinite. So once you start thinking in terms of your being divine, you start becoming divine; nothing else is needed. You just have to create a thought-climate about yourself. So this has to be your climate: become more and more loving and think of yourself as a temple of love, and the god of love is sitting just inside your being. In the beginning it will look like a fantasy, a fiction; soon you will realise that is has become the reality, and once you have learned this secret art – of changing your life just by conscious decision – you have learned something tremendously valuable. Then you carry a key in your hand which can unlock all doors. It is a master key; no lock exists that it cannot open. And this is the very foundation of all religions. god is not there existing. You have to decide that god exists, then he exists in you! That’s why the atheist can never come to know god, because he wants god to exist first and then he will accept. That is impossible because he comes into existence only when you come to acccept him. The moment you accept, he is. But if you say, ’First I will have to see him and then I will accept,’ you will miss, because you don’t give the climate in which he can be, in which he can reveal himself. That’s the meaning of trust. So let your sannyas be a great leap into trust, a jump and from this moment think of yourself as a temple. Life is a temple, and god is enshrined in the temple. We are carrying infinite potentiality – and completely unaware... living like beggars when we can live like emperors. Nobody is hindering us except our own fallacious ideas and old habits; habits have a great pull. To be depressed is a habit,, to be angry is a habit, to be sad is a habit – and naturally they are very wrong habits. To be happy, again is another habit. It is the same energy that becomes unhappiness or happiness; you just have to change your habit, your outlook, your attitude, and immediately energy starts flowing into a new channel. So from this moment, become happy, become loving, become grateful, become celebrating

TANTRA KRIYA YOGA.
Certain knowledge of the subtle body is required before one can begin the practice of
Tantric Kriya Yoga. This information includes the approximate location of the chakras
and other key energy points. Only the most basic fundamentals will be presented here, for
it is up to the serious practitioner to experience for him or herself. The key to success is
regularity, not how much one spends at a particular meditative session. Fifteen minutes
once a week every week is much better than one hour every now and then. Fifteen
minutes every day is a good goal for the beginner, but it is OK if you only do it once a
week. We will be adding at least one technique a lesson, and you will find the length of
your Kriya meditations extending naturally.
It is important to note that different spiritual traditions present disparate information
concerning the structure of the subtle body including the chakras and nadi system.

Each
tradition including Hindu, Buddhist, and Taoist, mention the subtle body in ancient
sacred texts, but tend to disagree on the number of chakras and their attributes. For
instance the East Indian Tantric system generally states that there are 7 chakras, while the
Buddhists mention only 5. In their book, The Body of Light, Lar Short and Thomas Mann
discuss this phenomenon and present possible explanations. Their final advice is most
important: Do not let this be an obstacle. After years of Kriya practice, I have identified
no less that 20 energy points that have become part of my psychic being. These points
made themselves known to me over time as I increased my sensitivity. One can start with
any of the systems, but let your own experience be the guide by tuning into your inner
being.
With this in mind, a good starting point is the East Indian Tantric system. For those who
do desire a more complete explanation of this tradition, there are several excellent
Western texts that discuss the chakras with related techniques and meditations. The
classic is Kundalini Yoga for the West by Swami Sivananda Radha (Shambhala). Another
is Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith (Llewellyn) and more recently, Chakras by one of my
teachers, Harish Johari (Destiny Books). These three will give the reader more than
adequate coverage of the chakras and their associated attributes. These attributes include
sounds, senses, emotions, symbols, colors, elements, desires and obstacles. Once again,
however, don't let book study circumvent your own direct experiences. What you
experience is your reality; books can only present vague maps to those who seek the way
to transcendence.
One of the purposes of Kriya Yoga is to open and purify the chakras, nadis, and channels.
This will allow life force energy to flow easily through these centers and systems.
Though chakras and nadis are not physical in nature, that is, they are not to be found in
the physical body, when they become energized there are bodily sensations that occur on
the physical level. These sensations include warmth, tingling, pulsing, pressure, etc. As
Kriya practices take the aspirant into deeper states of consciousness, one's awareness of
these sensations will begin to refine and become very localized.
