MAA  DHARI DEVI

Thuis is my true experience of mine along with my three other freinds named subhas thanik,pandit Beli ram sharma,N.P.SINGH.our's was the four member group,who used to do spiritual journey togeher through out india.this incidence is about 16 years back.This siddha peeth which is siyuated in SRINAGAR(Uttarakhand) is on the way to BADRINATH DHAM..Swami nagraj of PAURI DIST.has told us about this temple &we have visited this temple 18 years back along with swami jee,he hastold us that this is one of the 51 shakti peeth of india as one of aang of sati was fell here.one of the villager has seen this place in his dream,maa has given him the instructions in his dream to go there you will find a black stone idol of mine,you do the puja regulerly which will benifit the whole DEV BHOOMI,you can make walls around me but don't put roof above me,because i want to see the sky always.Swami jee has told us that whenever peoples has tried to put a slab over the idol it fell down.

one more thing is very chamtkari about this temple is,the MAA'S IDOL changes it face in the morning it look like a small girl, in the noon she look like a women & in evening she became a old women you can see the wrinkles on stone idol..The temple was situated on the rock at the center of ALAKHNANDA NADI far below from mainhighway road at least 500 feet below.Swami jee has told us that whenever you come here for darsan, apart from reguler offering to MAA each of you must offer a pair of laung (CLOVES) as cloves are very dear to maa kali,also this devi is protecting the all four dham of  uttrakhand such as BADRINATH,KEDARNATH,YAMUNOTRI & GANGOTRI.That is why she is so powerful.







AFTER TWO YEARS WE HAVE AGAIN VISITED THE DHARI DEVI,WHILE GOING TOWARDS BADRINATH,IT WAS AROUND 4PM ,WE REACHED THERE BY 4.30PM WITH CHUNRI,NARIYAL,MALA,PRASSAD,WE OFFERED THAT TO MAA RECITE THE SHAKTI MANTRAS,MEDITATE FOR WHILE &RETURNED,ONCE WE WERE JUST 50 FEET FROM MAIN ROAD,MY FREIND BELIRAM SHARMA TOLD ME'',PANDIT JEE EK GALTI HO GYI,LAUNG (CLOVES) TO MAA KO OFFER KIYA HI NAHI''AFTER LISTENING HIM WE GET NERVOUS,SOME TOLD ME LET OFFER CLOVES FROM HERE,THROW IT TOWARDS TEMPLE,BY FOLDING YOUR HANDS,BUT I TOLD MY GROUP NOTHING DOING WE WILL GO BACK,WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENING AARTI,WE WILL NOT PROCEED FURHER ,STAY IN SRINAGAR IN NIGHT.

ONCE WE REACHED AT THE TEMPLE AGAIN ,WHAT WE HAVE SEEN & HEARD FROM PUJARI'S WAS MIRACLE,PUJARIS WERE SITTING ON THE FLOOR WITH BOTH HAND ON THERE HEAD,VERY SHAKY,I HAVE ASKED THEM WEHTERE EVERY THING IS OKAY? WHY YOU ARE LOOKING SO NERVOUS? THEN THEY TOLD US THAT ,WE ARE ABOUT TO START  OUR EVENING ARTI BUT OUR CONTAINER HAVING LAUNG (CLOVES) IS MISSING,WITHOUT LAUNGS WE CAN NOT PERFORM THE AARTI & IT WILL DESTROY OUR WHOLE FAMILY.WE ALL HAVE TAKEN THE DEEP BREATH,SMILED & TOLD THE PUJARIS,THAT WE ARE JUST CAME BACK TO OFFER THE LAUNGES TO MAA,THEY LITERLY TOUCH OUR FEET,TOLD US YOU PEOPLES HAVE SAVED OUR FAMILY.

WE ALONG WITH PUJARIS HAVE PERFORMED, THE AARTI,WHEN AARTI COMPLETED ,JUST APART FROM PRASSD,PUJARIS TAKEN OUR LAUNGS TO OFFER TO THE GODESS,HE JUST CRIED WITH JOY,'MIL MIL GYA LAUNG KA DIBBA,YEH TO MAA KE SAMNE RAKHA HAI,I HAVESEEN THE IDOL FACE SHE WAS SMILING,AS DO YOU NEED ANY PROOF THAT YOU ARE MY BLESSED CHILD? THIS LEELA I HAVE CREATED FOR YOU''. OH MAA YOU ARE GREAT''JAI MAA DHARI DEVI.PUJARI HAVE GARLANDED US WITH MAA CHUNRIS,OFFERED BLACK THREAD FROM MOTHERS FEET.THIS ARTICLE IHAVE WRITTEN IN MY OWN NEWS PAPER" APANI DELHI"OF WHICH I WAS THE FOUNDER". AMARKANTAK A MOST IMPORTANT PLACE FOR SADHAKS, TAPSWI'S & TOURISTS.

I HAVE VISITED THIS WONDERFUL PLACE,BY FAULT OR MY DESTINY TAKEN ME THERE.IN MAY 2012,I WAS IN GOA ATTENDING SRI VIDIYA SADHNA(LEVEL -3) BY AVDHOOT BABA SHIVANAND JEE MAHARAJ,AFTER FINISHING THE SHIVIR,I WAS MAKING THE PLAN TO GO TO EKANT VAS FOR 21 DAYS FOR PRACTISING THE VIDIYA ONE OF MY SADHIKA FREIND IN SHIVIR HAS SUGGESTED ME THE NAME OF AMARKANTAK TEMPLE,FROM WHERE THE HOLY RIVER" NARMDA"ORGINATES,ALSO SHE HAS TOLD ME THAT,HIS HUSBAND WILL MAKE ALL MY BOARDING LODGING,ARRANGEMENTS AT FREE O COST AS HE IS THE LAND REVENUE REGISTRAR OF AMAR KANTAK,THIS WAY I HAVE REACHED THERE & I MUST SAY IS" A MUST PLACE TO VISIT"














It is one of the ancient temples of great traditional value, Narmdeshwar temple which is dedicated to Narmada Devi is in Amarkantak. Narmada Udgam is an open ‘kund ‘at the origin of river Narmada in Amarkantak. As per mythological belief, the holy river Narmada takes its origin from Lord Shiva and descended from heaven at Narmada Udgam in Amarkantak. Pilgrims and the tourists visit Narmada Udgam to perform rituals and prayers. There are about twenty small temples around this ‘kund’, like Shiva temple, Kartikey temple, Shri Ram Janki temple, Annapurna temple, Guru Gorakhnath temple, Sri Shuryanarayan temple, Vangeshwar Mahadev temple, Durga temple, Shiv Pariwar, Siddheswar Mahadev temple, Sri Radha Krishna temple, Eleven Rudra temple,etc. Evening Aarti at temples in Amarkantak is another attraction for visitors and devotees.

Dudh Dhara

Fom a distance of 1 Km. from Kapildhara in Amarkantak, Dudh Dhara is a quite and tranquil falls with only just 10 ft. high stream, famous for the scenic beauty.

Dhuni Pani

Dhuni Pani in Amarkantak is a natural Hot Spring and is been believed that the water of the spring has an elixir like property by which it can heal the people from fatal diseases.

A sanctified place of pilgrimage for Hindus which has a great area of natural beauty enhances its popularity. Amarkantak is the source of one of the most venerated rivers of central India, the mighty Narmada as also of the River Sone. For the people of Chhattisgarh state the Narmada River is more than a holy river; its waters are the wellspring of life and prosperity in the region. The Narmada begins its earthly journey at a place called Mai ki Bagiya in Amarkantak - that plus the waterfalls of Dugdha Dhara and Kapil Dhara attracts both the religious and the secular traveller.


Mai ki Bagiya - About 1 Km. from the auspicious Narmada kund, Mai ki Bagiya is one of the prettiest locations in Amarkantak which is spotted with endless varieties of Mangos, Bananas and many other fruits along with flowery plants. It is popularly believed that Narmada devi used to pluck flowers in this garden. Mai ki Bagiya is quite famous for large varities of medicinal herbs and plants.

Sonmuda -About 2 km away from Narmadakund in Amarkantak is the Sonemuda which is the origin point of Sone River. The location is awesome with its scenic beauty and is famous as a “sunrise” point.

Kapildhara - from a distance of 8 Km of the origin of river Narmada in Amarkantak, Kapildhara is an eye catching waterfall of 100 ft. height, famous for its heavenly feeling. It is believed that the Kapil rishi meditated here. Adjacent to Kapildhara, there is a beautiful garden which is another attraction for tourists

Jwaleshwar Mahadev
Jwaleshwar Mahadev is at a distance of 8 km from Amarkantak on Shahdol road. The temple of Jwaleshwar Mahadev is situated at the origin of river Johilla amidst deep forests. According to mythological belief, Lord Shiva himself established a Shivlinga here and also scattered crores of other Shivlingas over Maikal Mountain in Chhattisgarh that is known as ‘Maha Rudra Meru’. There is a 'sunset point' close to this temple.










The Amarkantak-Achanakmar Biosphere Reserve consists of majority of the region of the state of Madhya Pradesh and parts of the district of Bilaspur in the state of Chhattisgarh. After the declaration of this region as a biosphere reserve, the government has been engaged in activities to preserve the forest area.The government here has made continuous efforts for eco-restoration and is introducing schemes of agro-forestry in the biosphere reserve. The forest of Amarkantak is home to a variety of trees and herbs of medicinal value. The forest region is home to the wildlife that comprises of the bison, tiger, barking deer, musk deer and the sambar.

Best time to visit the holy place of Amarkantak is from August to March.

How to Reach the Temple

Through Railways- the nearest railway station to Amarkantak is Pendra Road (17 km) in Chhatisgarh, though Anuppur (48km) is more convenient. Bilaspur (120 km) in Chhattisgarh is also another city close to Amarkantak and linked through railway network with all major cities of India
